FAQs About Selling Diamonds and Diamond Jewelry

Do diamonds have a resale value?

Many are surprised about a diamond’s resale value. Retail prices and insurance appraisals have absolutely no bearing on the market value of a diamond when reselling diamonds. Learn more about diamond resale value.

How much can you sell diamonds for?

The resale price of a specific diamond is influenced by several factors. Primarily, the fundamental worth of a diamond is significantly influenced by essential attributes often referred to as the 4 Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat.

Why are diamonds hard to sell?

Diamonds can be hard to sell if the market is oversaturated, and there is a surplus. If a local buyer has too much inventory, it can be hard to get the price you want. At Diamonds USA, we make it easy to sell diamonds: Request a free Appraisal Kit, ship your items, and accept our offer.

How do you get the most money for a diamond?

It all begins with working with a reputable buyer. It will depend on the average price of a diamond when you choose to sell. If you sell to a local jeweler or pawn shop, they generally offer a lower rate because of all their expenses. And, if they plan on reselling it to a company like Diamonds USA, they cannot offer the same rate we can. So, consider selling online to a company like us.

What is the best way to sell your diamonds?

We are biased and think the best way to sell your diamonds is to sell them to us. However, if your diamond jewelry is an antique or a unique piece, it might be best to check with a local buyer. If your diamond is chipped, broken, or flawed, you can send it to us, and we’ll evaluate it and make you an offer.

Do pawn shops buy diamonds?

Pawn shops buy diamonds. If you choose to sell to a local buyer like a pawn shop or jeweler, there is the likelihood that they sell to companies like ours. If this is the case, then they will not be able to offer you the same as Diamonds USA can.

Can I sell diamond without certificate?

You can sell a diamond without a certificate to Diamonds USA. We are looking for what the material is worth, not the condition. So, having a certificate does not matter to us. Our expert gemologists will do a thorough evaluation and make you a fair offer.
