Ancient Afghan Gold on Display in Houston
Residents of and visitors to Houston, Texas will be able to see gold objects that are on loan from the Afghan National Museum. This is a great opportunity to see some of the products of an ancient culture that many of us are not all that familiar with. When you cannot get to the actual country itself, seeing objects from that place can provide you with a glimpse of life there. While it is true that gold objects may not tell the entire story, you would be surprised at how much such things will tell you. Gold objects that are extremely intricate show that someone in that culture had the time and dedication to make such things. In some ancient cultures, complex gold jewelry and other objects were only available to the wealthy. In other cultures, people who all levels of society were able to fashion or buy beautifully designed gold jewelry.
This exhibition will have more than 200 intricately designed gold items and other objects from Afghanistan. Some of these items were stolen from the country or they were lost at one point. The National Geographic Society helped put this tour together. Many of these gold treasures from Afghan are found during part of an archaeological dig that took place in with 1970s. Interestingly enough, these ancient gold artifacts were found on a gravesite for six nomads who lived in nation that once existed in what is now Afghanistan.
Among the gold objects unearthed in these graves were gold belts, gold rings, gold necklaces and gold headdresses. These gold objects went through a lot because some had been stolen, some had been hidden away from the ravages of war, while others had been presumed lost. And now these gold pieces have been transported to Texas for viewing.
Your gold jewelry may not have been through quite so much as these ancient gold items from Afghanistan. Some of the hidden objects were secreted away by museum workers who know who to store them so they could one day be found and displayed again. That may not have been the case with your old gold jewelry. You may have found a treasure trove of gold jewelry that is broken or damaged in some other way. Rather than despair about its present state, you can sell gold. A gold buyer does not need for gold to be in pristine condition. A gold buyer will buy your gold, even if it is not in the best condition.
